| Breaking News |  | Thursday, September 27th, 2001: Mellad Bewilders Maroons in Shutout
Ariel Mellad bent a little, but he didn't break against the Maroons. The Montego pitcher hurled a 5-hit 9-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and putting up 10 strikeouts.
"Ariel is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on-base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
This year Mellad has a 11-10 record and a 4.31 ERA.

 | Monday, September 17th, 2001: NL Announces Player of the Week
One of the league's most exciting young players, Jayson Rushworth of the Falmouth Maroons earned himself North League Player of the Week honors with a standout performance in last week's games.
For the week the 25-year-old left fielder had a lofty .364 average (12-33), collecting 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
This season Rushworth has hit at a .279 clip with 86 RBIs, 25 home runs and 94 runs scored. He has played in 143 games.

 | Tuesday, September 11th, 2001: Langwell Cruises to Shutout
Timmy Langwell of the Falmouth Maroons was really in the zone as he mowed down the Savanna hitters 7-0 in a sterling mound performance.
"I'm feeling good overall," he said.
"I'm executing my pitches, I'm able to hit my spots and I'm getting outs in key situations."
Langwell shut down the Savanna Suns, blanking them on 4 hits while registering 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.
In 2001 Langwell has compiled a 12-5 record with a 2.91 ERA in 21 starts.
