It was a dazzling performance by Ezra Longueville of the Portmore Pirates. He shut out the Maypen Iguanas 7-0 on a well-pitched 4-hitter, ringing up 9 strikeouts and issuing no walks.
This year Longueville has registered 13 wins and 17 losses in 33 starts with a 3.01 ERA while registering 250 strikeouts and 47 walks in 257.1 innings.

 | Wednesday, September 19th, 2001: Pirates Lose García for Season
The season is ending on a bad note for Pepe García, center fielder for the Portmore Pirates. It was announced today that he will miss the rest of the season because of injury. García was hurt against the Old Harbour Fireflys while running the bases. He suffered a fractured foot and will be out for at least 12 months.
For the season, García is hitting at a .247 clip with 3 home runs, 34 RBIs and has scored 44 runs. He has 96 hits, 27 walks and a .296 on-base percentage.

 | Wednesday, September 5th, 2001: Meikle Shackles Portmore
Today at Capitol Stadium Herschel Meikle baffled Portmore batters on 5 hits en route to a 1-0 shutout.
"He was able to keep hitters off balance and got the ball down," said the Giants skipper about his starter's performance.
Meikle had 8 strikeouts and 1 walk in the game.
Meikle in 2001 has fashioned a 15-5 mark, 4.03 ERA and thrown 196.1 innings in 26 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .268 against him.
