| Breaking News | | Friday, September 21st, 2001: Calderón Twirls Shutout In an almost effortless performance, Aquilino Calderón of the Suns shot down the Crocodiles 4-0 on a 5-hit shutout.
His skipper said, "Aquilino was just locating so well and using his pitches... not leaving anything over the plate."
Calderón recorded 6 strikeouts and 2 walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, the St Cruz manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."
In the current season in 30 starts, Aquilino Calderón has a record of 15-9 with 95 strikeouts in 231.1 innings and a 3.58 ERA. | | Sunday, September 16th, 2001: Mandeville Draws Blanks Against Aikenhead The strong arm of Lemuel Aikenhead dealt a lot of misery to the Bauxers. He tossed a complete-game shutout to spark the St Cruz Crocodiles to a 2-0 win. In today's contest at Romeo Field, Aikenhead limited Mandeville to 5 hits and had 10 strikeouts and 1 walk.
To date in 2001, Aikenhead sports a 3-4 mark with a 4.43 ERA in 9 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .255 batting average and has 49 strikeouts in 63 innings. | | Tuesday, August 28th, 2001: Mr. Perfect: Farrier Tosses Rare Gem It began like any other game, but by the seventh inning everybody in Westmoreland Stadium knew history was in the making. When the last out was made, Isidro Farrier of the Savanna Suns had made history and will be immortalized in the league record books for pitching a perfect game against the St Cruz Crocodiles. He beat them 6-0, yielded no hits, no walks and no baserunners in his historic outing. Throughout the game, Farrier was electric, handing out 11 Ks to a shocked Crocodiles offense. It will be a day he will always remember.
"Don't let anybody kid you," he told reporters after the game, "they know when it's a no-hitter... you can see the big "zero" on the scoreboard... but I didn't realize no one had gotten on base until the last inning. That made it even worse... this was a perfect game... and I didn't want to lose it. Luckily I was in a fog during the last three hitters and the pressure didn't faze me. I guess ignorance is bliss when you are pitching a perfect game."
In 28 starts this year Farrier has crafted a 14-9 record and a 3.52 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | | Record at home | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 0-0, .000 PCT |
